Can a household unit be positioned near a stove without exceeding its intended conditions?

The label directs that the filter is not used where oil mist reaches it or where the media may become wet.

The label sets the operating conditions in its own words: “Use in dry air only. Do not use in ducts carrying liquid water, steam or oil mist, or anywhere the media may become wet.” and “Do not install a filter whose media is torn, crushed, wet or visibly damaged.” For storage it instructs that the filter is kept flat or on edge in the original packaging, indoors and dry, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
