Do two quoted ratings use editions of a standard with different classification rules?

The company names the standard and, where the document states it, the edition behind each rating it cites from a numbered report or certificate.

The two air ratings come from two different standards, not from two editions of one: MERV 15A from ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 52.2-2017 with Appendix J, recorded in LMS Technologies, Report 6847, 5 November 2024, and ISO ePM1 70% with an A class energy rating from Eurovent Certita Certification Certificate No. 15.06.011, which certifies a ten-pocket bag filter under ISO 16890. They classify by different rules, and a class under one does not convert into a class under the other. Certificate No. 15.06.011 covers a ten-pocket bag filter, not a flat panel filter, and Report 6847 is on a 24 × 24 × 30 in. pocket filter; a rating belongs to the construction that was tested. The fire reports name their editions on their own scope lines: UL 900, Safety for Air Filter Units, 8th edition dated April 21, 2015, in Intertek reports 105175501SAT-001, 104974202SAT-001 and 105169484SAT-001; and ULC-S111-13, Standard Method of Fire Tests for Air Filter Units, 5th edition December 2013, in Intertek reports 106093268SAT-001 and 106079483SAT-001. A rating is read with the standard and the edition that produced it, and not on its own.
