Can maintenance be performed without opening the housing in an occupied patient area?

Replacing the filter means opening the filter access, and the label sets out how.

How long a system can be off is decided by the people who run it.

The label’s directions are: “Switch the system off at the thermostat or at the unit’s disconnect before opening the filter access.” The used filter is then removed and discarded as directed, the new filter is fitted with the airflow arrow pointing toward the blower and checked square in the track, and the access panel is closed before the system is switched back on. The label’s caution states: “A used filter holds the dust and microorganisms it has taken out of the air. Wear gloves, and eye protection and a dust mask where dust is heavy. Put the used filter straight into a bag or waste container. Do not shake it out or blow it clean. Wash hands after handling.”
