Are research images and descriptions product specifications or promises?

No. Images and descriptions are not specifications and they are not promises.

The Terms of Use state: “Images and descriptions may show concepts or prototypes. They are not specifications, instructions, validation reports, recommendations, warranties, offers, promises, or commitments.” They also state: “A reported result describes only what the identified test found.” The Validation page names the reports and certificates it lists with the institution and the number. An image is not the evidence. Each numbered report the company cites is named in text with its institution and number, not only shown in a picture.
