The label sets the steps: switch the system off at the thermostat or at the unit's disconnect before opening the filter access; remove the used filter and discard it as directed; put the used filter straight into a bag or waste container and do not shake it out or blow it clean; wear gloves, and eye protection and a dust mask where dust is heavy.
