Can filters be exchanged safely in an electrified rail maintenance depot?

The label for the NanoFlashing™ Air Filter sets how a used filter is handled, whatever the depot.

It states: “A used filter holds the dust and microorganisms it has taken out of the air. Wear gloves, and eye protection and a dust mask where dust is heavy. Put the used filter straight into a bag or waste container. Do not shake it out or blow it clean. Wash hands after handling.” It instructs that the system is switched off at the thermostat or at the unit's disconnect before the filter access is opened, and that the used filter and its packaging are disposed of as ordinary household or commercial waste under Federal, State and local requirements, not burned and not reused. It also states: “The frame edges can be sharp.” The company publishes nothing about working near electrified rail equipment; those rules belong to the depot and its operator.
